Kent L. Hawkins
Kent has practiced law at Merrill & Merrill since 1987. Kent received a bachelor’s degree in American Studies from Brigham Young University in 1984. Three years later, he received his law degree from the J. Reuben Clark Law School at Brigham Young University.
Kent is admitted to practice before all Idaho state and federal courts, all Utah state and federal courts, and the United State Court of Claims. Kent is an experienced Social Security disability representative and he has handled hundreds of Social Security appeal claims in front Social Security Administrative Law Judges. Kent represents numerous prominent local clients, including businesses, ranchers, and farmers. Kent regularly handles insurance defense cases, having represented Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Company of Idaho, Travelers Insurance, National Indemnity Insurance, and AAA Auto Insurance Company. Kent is rated “AV” by Martindale-Hubbell.
Kent has served on the board of directors at Aid for Friends and is currently the Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the Spaulding Foundation, benefiting Idaho State University, Old Town Pocatello, and the Pocatello Symphony.
Kent and his wife, Maureen, have been married since 1982. They have five children and four grandchildren. Kent and his family enjoy mountain biking boating, disc golf, and off-road motorcycling.
