Dave R. Gallafent
Dave has spent his entire legal career working at Merrill & Merrill, joining the firm after being admitted to the Idaho bar in 1975. He graduated from Brigham Young University in 1972 with a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, cum laude, and earned his law degree with honors from George Washington University in 1975.
Dave’s current practice primarily consists of transactional work and counseling clients in matters involving business law, entity formation, real estate, secured transactions, contracts, and probate and estate planning. Earlier in his career, Dave was also heavily involved in commercial litigation and insurance defense, which have enhanced his skills as a business lawyer. Dave is rated “AV” by Martindale-Hubbell, and in 2010, he received the Idaho State Bar Professionalism Award.
Dave is admitted to practice law in Idaho state and federal courts. He was the president of the Idaho Sixth District Bar Association in 1986-1987. From 1998-1999, Dave served as the president of the Pocatello Estate Planning Council. In the community Dave has been actively involved with the Boy Scouts of America, receiving the Bridge Builder Award and the District Award of Merit for his service as a District Chairman. He has also served as president of the Idaho State Civic Symphony and the United Way of Southeast Idaho, and he was on the board of directors of both organizations for many years. He is on the Kasiska Foundation board of directors.
Dave and his wife Suzanne have two children, James and Michele, and eight grandchildren.
